About the Winery

Fatalone is a historic, fifth-generation family-owned organic winery in Gioia del Colle, founded in the late 19th century by Nicola Petrera on the Spinomarino hill. The winery, whose name derives from the nickname of second-generation Filippo Petrera meaning 'lady killer,' was the first to bottle a Gioia del Colle Primitivo DOC and became a founding member of the protection consortium in 2000, crafting certified organic wines with spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts.
