About the Winery
Fontanafredda is one of the most historic and iconic wineries in Piemonte, founded in 1858 by Count Emanuele Alberto di Mirafiori, son of King Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy, on 250 hectares across Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo, and Diano d'Alba. As the largest certified organic winery in Piemonte since 2018, Fontanafredda was the first to produce a single-vineyard Barolo in 1964 and a commune-designated Barolo in 1988, with the entire estate classified as a Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva, making it Barolo's largest monopole.
