Abbazia di Novacella, founded in 1142, is one of the oldest active wineries in the world, operated by Augustinian canons in Varna, South Tyrol. The abbey's vineyards span altitudes from 600 to 1,450 meters, producing acclaimed white wines from Sylvaner, Kerner, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer as well as Pinot Noir from their historic mountain terraces.
