About the Winery

The Caveau des Beaujolais-Villages, also known as the Cave de Clochemerle, is a collective wine cellar and tasting room located in the village of Vaux-en-Beaujolais, a village better known by the name 'Clochemerle' since author Gabriel Chevallier admitted it inspired his famous novel. The cellar was inaugurated in 1956 by the winegrowers of the village to showcase their range of wines. Today, 17 winemakers collaborate to offer a selection of 50 products, including Beaujolais crus, Beaujolais-Villages red, white, and Rose wines, and Crémant de Bourgogne. The wines are part of the Beaujolais-Villages Protected Designation of Origin, crafted primarily from Gamay and Chardonnay grape varieties. The cellar is an emblematic and unmissable site of Clochemerle, featuring frescoes on its walls and serving as a meeting place for festive events. The brotherhood of Gosier Sec, created in 1961, is associated with the cellar. The village of Vaux-en-Beaujolais is perched on a hilltop in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards, offering panoramic views of the Saône plain and the Alps.
