About the Winery

Domaine des Avaux is a wine estate in the Rhône Valley of France, producing wines under the Côtes-du-Rhône and Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages appellations. The estate was founded in 1976 by Aimé Sabon, father of Christophe and Isabelle, who still oversees the vineyards. The property consists of 40 hectares spread across as many as 70 different parcels throughout the appellation. The terroirs are diverse, ranging from sandy soils in the northern plots of Chapouin and La Janasse, to lightly-colored clay-limestone soils and gravelly red clay with galets (rounded stones) in the southern plots of Le Crau. The domaine practices organic viticulture. Their red wines are crafted from classic Rhône grape varieties including Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, resulting in wines with aromas of red and black fruits that express the character of a Provençal terroir scented with garrigue. They also produce Vieilles Vignes cuvées from old vines that offer additional concentration and depth.

A family Rhône Valley estate founded in 1976, cultivating 40 hectares across 70 diverse parcels to produce expressive Côtes-du-Rhône wines.
