L' Enclouse des Vignes
About the Winery
L'Enclouse des Vignes is a producer in the Charentes region of western France, located along the tourist route D145 connecting Royan to Bordeaux. The domaine is known for its Pineau des Charentes, a fortified wine (vin de liqueur) that dates back to the 16th century, created when grape must was accidentally mixed with cognac eau-de-vie. Their Pineau is described as very clear, with old gold color and orange reflections, displaying the characteristic richness and balance of this regional specialty. The Charentes region, while best known for Cognac, also produces IGP Charentais wines and the sweet Pineau des Charentes from grape varieties including Ugni Blanc, Colombard, and Sauvignon.
“A Charentes estate crafting traditional Pineau des Charentes, the historic fortified wine of the Cognac region.”
