About the Winery
Philippe Bonhomme owns and operates the Domaine de Bacarra in the heart of the Beaujolais region. The estate was established in 1960 and covers 16 hectares around the village of Saint-Etienne la Varenne. Typically, half of the estate's production is vinified and sold as Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau, while the other half is matured traditionally as Beaujolais-Villages. The domaine also produces Beaujolais Blanc from Chardonnay. Philippe and his wife Nicole are regarded as excellent vignerons, crafting wines that express the freshness and fruit character of the Beaujolais terroir.
