About the Winery
Olivier Chartrain operates Domaine du Belvédère in Saint-Martin-de-Sanzay in the Loire Valley. Established in 1989, the estate encompasses approximately 20-22 hectares, with one-third planted to Chenin Blanc and 40% to white varieties including Chardonnay and Crémant de Loire. The domaine is certified HVE (High Environmental Value) and produces wines across multiple appellations including AOC Crémant de Loire, AOC Rose de Loire, AOC Saumur, AOC Anjou, and AOC Cabernet d'Anjou. Olivier Chartrain is known for championing the Chenin Blanc grape, which he describes as 'the king of grapes' and an 'interpreter of terroir,' capable of producing a wide range of wine styles from dry to sweet, still to sparkling.
