About the Winery

Abbaye de Fontfroide is a historic Cistercian abbey founded in 1093 in the Corbières region of Languedoc. The estate has a winemaking heritage spanning over nine centuries, with vineyards originally cultivated by Cistercian monks. Today, the estate is managed by Laure de Chevron Villette and is certified HVE (High Environmental Value) Level 3 and Terra Vitis. The vineyards surround the abbey in a protected Natura 2000 zone, with over 100 beehives on the property. The estate produces a range of wines including red Corbières, Clairette de Die, and exclusive cuvées like Deo Gratias aged 12 months in oak. The property also features one of the largest rose gardens in Southern France with over 2,500 varieties, gardens certified organic, and an LPO bird sanctuary refuge. The on-site restaurant, La Table de Fontfroide, offers a gastronomic experience.
