About the Winery

Château de la Grave is a historic wine estate in the Côtes de Bourg appellation of Bordeaux, acquired by the Bassereau family in 1910. Now managed by Philippe, Valérie, and Lou Bassereau, the fifth generation, the estate spans 45 hectares cultivated in organic and biodynamic agriculture. The property features a 19th-century château built in pure Louis XIII style that operates as a Bed & Breakfast. The estate produces a range of wines including red Côtes de Bourg from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec, white wines from Sémillon and Colombard, sparkling wine, and an innovative orange wine. The Bassereau family is recognized as a Wine Society Pioneer for sustainable methods, including planting fruit and olive trees, establishing meadows, and reopening waterways for biodiversity. The estate won the 2024 Climate & Nature Fund for their environmental initiatives.
