Château Lafon Rochet

About the Winery

Château Lafon-Rochet is a Fourth Growth (Quatrième Grand Cru Classé) estate in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, located in Saint-Estèphe. The estate was founded when Etienne Lafon, a parliamentarian, obtained lands through his wife Antoinette de Guillemottes' dowry and merged the domains of Rochet and Lafon. The property remained in the Lafon family until 1880. Today, it is managed by Basile Tesseron, who joined his father Michel in 2007 to assist in running the estate. The 45-hectare vineyard is situated in the south-west of Saint-Estèphe on one of the world's most prestigious terroirs, with vines averaging 30 years of age and a density of 9,000 vines per hectare. The main grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The estate produces two wines: Château Lafon Rochet and the second wine 'Les Pèlerins de Lafon Rochet.'
