About the Winery

Domaine Brégeon, formerly Domaine Michel Brégeon, is a 10-hectare family estate in Gorges, in the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation of the Loire Valley. In 2011, Fred Lailler took over from André-Michel Brégeon, one of the precursors of high-quality Muscadet. The estate is certified organic and practices traditional techniques including natural fermentations and long aging in underground tanks. The vineyards, with an average vine age of 65 years, are planted on gabbro (volcanic rock) in Gorges and granite in Clisson, giving the wines their distinctive minerality. The two main grape varieties are Melon de Bourgogne (for Muscadet) and Folle Blanche (for Gros Plant du Pays Nantais). The estate produces approximately 20-30,000 bottles per year, with half exported. The wines are renowned for their exceptional aging potential and cult status among Muscadet enthusiasts.
