Vignobles Despagne-Rapin
About the Winery
Vignobles Despagne-Rapin is a family estate located in Montagne, in the Montagne-Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux. The domaine's 32-hectare vineyard is situated on clay soils of the plateau and slopes between Lalande de Pomerol and Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion. The estate has been farmed biodynamically since 2011 (Demeter certified 2013), with a focus on living soils as the foundation of their vines. Half the vineyard consists of old Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines planted between 1943 and 1964. Nicolas Despagne represents the latest generation, perpetuating the family tradition of crafting wines that express their unique terroir. The estate produces several cuvées including the legendary Louis Rapin, a wine designed to prove that authentic great terroirs exist in all appellations. The wines are bottled without fining or filtering, preserving their natural character.
