The Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud, founded in 1101, is one of the largest monastic complexes in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in the Loire Valley, the abbey is famous for housing the necropolis of the Plantagenets, including Eleanor of Aquitaine.
