The Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud, founded in 1101, is one of the largest monastic complexes in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in the Loire Valley, the abbey is famous for housing the necropolis of the Plantagenets, including Eleanor of Aquitaine. Today, Fontevraud offers a unique cultural and wine tourism experience, serving as an ideal starting point to explore the vineyards of Saumur, Chinon, and Bourgueil.
