Comtes de Bournazel

Château de Malle, 37 route de Toulenne, 33560 Preignac, France

About the Winery

The Comtes de Bournazel family is associated with Château de Malle, a magnificent 17th-century estate and historic monument in Sauternes, Bordeaux. Jacques de Malle built the château in 1650, and the estate was classified as a Second Cru Classé (Second Growth) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The estate's vineyard covers 50 hectares in a single block, straddling the prestigious Sauternes and Graves appellations. The wine is typically a blend of 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon Blanc, aged in 30% new French oak barrels for 12-18 months. Château de Malle also produces Château de Cardaillan (red Graves) and M. de Malle (dry white Graves). The estate was managed by the Comtesse de Bournazel after her husband's death in 1985, and the family stewarded the property until its sale in April 2024.

The Comtes de Bournazel family managed Château de Malle, a 17th-century Sauternes Second Cru Classé estate with 50 hectares of vineyards, from 1950 to 2024.
