About the Winery
Francis Sottana, along with brothers Ludovic and Fabrice, represents the fourth generation of a family that arrived from Italy in 1951. They operate 88 hectares of vines (2/3 red, 1/3 white) in Saint-André-et-Appelles, about 70 km east of Bordeaux, near the Dordogne border. The family has expanded the domain from 19 hectares in 1999 to 88 hectares today. They primarily sell their production in bulk to the négociant Dourthe but also bottle small volumes under the label Château Prieuré d'Appelles in red, white, and Rose. The family focuses on quality through high-density plantings and technical vineyard management.
