About the Winery

Château d'Arche is a Sauternes estate ranked as a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru Classé) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Founded in 1611 by the d'Arche family, the estate has a long and storied history. The 40-hectare vineyard is planted to 90% Sémillon, 9% Sauvignon Blanc, and 1% Muscadelle, with vines averaging 45 years of age. The terroir combines gravel, rocks, stones, clay, and limestone soils. The wine is vinified and aged in French oak barrels (30% new) for 12-18 months. Château d'Arche produces approximately 4,500 cases annually along with a second wine called Prieuré d'Arche. The estate also produces a high-end cuvée called d'Arche Lafaurie from their oldest vines, aged in 100% new French oak for 24 months. Notably, Château d'Arche was one of the first classified growths to innovate with alternative packaging.
