Berne Sélection
About the Winery
Château de Berne is an iconic wine estate in Provence, located in Lorgues in the Haut-Var. With a history dating back to Roman times when vines were planted along the Via Aurelia, the estate was formally established in 1750. The property spans 1,235 acres with 350 acres planted to vine, surrounded by 1,600 acres of forest. In 2007, British entrepreneur Mark Dixon acquired the estate and transformed it into a world-class wine destination. The estate is certified organic since February 2021 across all 175 hectares. Winemaker Alexis Cornu crafts wines known for freshness and acidity. The estate features a 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and has become the most visited wine destination in Provence. The estate produces Rose, white, and red Côtes de Provence wines from grape varieties including Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rolle, Sémillon, and Viognier.
