About the Winery

The Ambard family's winegrowing history in Carcès dates back to the 1930s when Joseph Ambard, a pharmacist, first planted vines. The estate, known as Château des Riaux, is located in the Côtes de Provence appellation. The property's origins are fascinating - the site was originally a silkworm farm (magnanerie) in the 1890s before being transformed into a château by a General from Toulon. Since 2004, Frédéric Ambard has been cultivating 7 hectares of vines at Les Riaux, producing wines under the Côtes de Provence appellation with grape varieties including Syrah, Cabernet, Grenache, and Rolle. The family's wines are available through the local cooperative. Frédéric and his brother Dominique also restored the château starting in 2010, creating guest accommodation.
