Bernard Loriaud is a wine producer in Saint-Ciers-du-Taillon, in the Charentes-Maritime department of western France. The Charentes region is internationally renowned as the home of Cognac, but it also produces wines under various appellations including Pineau des Charentes, a fortified aperitif wine made from fresh grape juice blended with Cognac eau-de-vie. The region's mild oceanic climate and chalky soils, similar to those of Champagne, are ideal for growing Ugni Blanc, the primary grape variety used for Cognac production. The estate produces wines that contribute to the rich viticultural and spirits tradition of the Charentes.
