Jean Bissuel is a wine producer in Sarcey, in the Beaujolais region near Lyon. The estate produces wines from Gamay grapes grown on the sandy-clay soils of the area, which yield light, fruity red wines with aromas of cassis and candy. Beaujolais wines are typically made using semi-carbonic maceration, which extracts fruit flavors while keeping tannins soft. The region is divided into the basic Beaujolais AOC, the superior Beaujolais-Villages, and the ten prestigious crus, each with its own distinct terroir character. Jean Bissuel crafts wines in the traditional Beaujolais style, emphasizing freshness and fruit expression.
