About the Winery

William Boyd is a renowned Scottish novelist and owner of Château Pecachard in Bergerac, South West France. The novelist, author of 'Any Human Heart,' 'Brazzaville Beach,' and 'The Blue Afternoon,' purchased a farmhouse surrounded by 28 hectares of woodland and vineyards in 1992. With winemaker Thierry Bernard, they replanted the vineyards and produced their first wine in 1996. The estate produces approximately 15,000 bottles annually: a Rose made from Cabernet Sauvignon, a white blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and two Bordeaux-blend reds. Boyd's literary background influenced the château's label design, created by the same artist who produced his book jackets.

A Scottish novelist turned winemaker, crafting wines at Château Pecachard in the Bergerac region.
