Roland Alazard
About the Winery
Domaine de la Colline Saint Jean is a family-owned property that has been in the Alazard family for generations. Roland Alazard, along with his son Cyril and daughter Aurélie, go to great lengths to preserve character and tradition in their Côtes-du-Rhône wines. The domain covers 30 hectares of vineyards in four appellations: 2 hectares of Gigondas, 14 hectares of Vacqueyras, 1.3 hectares of Beaumes de Venise, and the remainder in Côtes du Rhône and IGP. Their vines average 50 years old and are planted on clay-limestone soil. The hillside vineyards are heated by the sun, giving the resulting wines a generous crimson robe, complex flavors, and a delicate roundness on the palate. All production is bottled and sold at the domaine. The winemaking is traditional, with red wines aged in old small or larger barrels.
“A multi-generational family estate in Vacqueyras crafting traditional Rhône wines from 50-year-old vines across four appellations.”
