Château de Béru

About the Winery

Château de Béru is a historic family-owned wine estate of around fifteen hectares located in Burgundy, in the heart of the Chablis vineyards. The Béru family has owned the château since 1627, spanning over 400 years of winegrowing history. After phylloxera devastated the vineyards in the early 20th century, all vines were uprooted. In 1987, Comte Éric de Béru replanted the vineyard, including the famous Clos Béru, a walled vineyard recognized by monks since the 12th century. In 2005, Athénaïs de Béru vinified her first vintage, converting the estate to organic viticulture and later to biodynamics in 2011. The estate produces Chablis wines from 100% Chardonnay, including village wines, Premier Crus, and the iconic Clos Béru. The wines are known for their pronounced minerality, salinity, and expression of Kimmeridgian limestone terroir. The estate also offers guest accommodation in the historic château.
