About the Winery

Domaine Rémi et Paola Benon is located outside the village of Juliénas on the road to La Chapelle de Guinchay. Rémi Benon is the third generation to farm this 7.5-hectare estate, but is the 10th generation of his family to be a viticulturist. The estate is made up of 3 hectares of Chénas, 1.5 hectares of Saint-Amour, 1 hectare of Juliénas, with the balance in Beaujolais-Villages. Rémi took over the reins at age 16 following the untimely death of his father in 1982, with help from his uncle Jean, from whom he took over sole ownership of the whole estate in 2005. The winemaking is Burgundian in style rather than using traditional carbonic maceration, with fermentation and ageing in epoxy-lined concrete tanks. Gravity plays its part in the winemaking process.
