About the Winery

Domaine de la Noblaie is a family estate since 1952, when Jacqueline and Pierre Manzagol purchased the land and began planting vines. Starting with just 5 hectares producing 3 barrels in 1953, the estate has grown to 26 hectares under the current stewardship of Jérôme Billard (oenologist) and his partner Elodie Peyrussie (agricultural engineer). The vineyard is on beautiful clay-limestone plateaus and hillsides, with 20 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 6 hectares of Chenin, the unique grape varieties of AOC Chinon. The vines are cultivated using organic agriculture. The estate is known for having the oldest vat in Chinon carved directly into the tuffeau rock, still used today for one of the estate's iconic cuvées called 'Pierre de Tuf'. Visitors can discover the vineyard through a self-guided marked trail (1km, approximately 40 minutes) and enjoy tastings on a terrace overlooking the Vienne valley.
