Château Giscours

About the Winery

Château Giscours is a 3ème Grand Cru Classé 1855 of Margaux, located in the Médoc near the village of Labarde. The estate's origins trace back to a fortified keep built in 1330, with the first vines planted in 1552 by Pierre de Lhomme. The wine was served to King Louis XIV. Since 1995, the estate has been owned by Eric Albada Jelgersma, a Dutch businessman who undertook meticulous restoration of the vineyard and buildings. The estate spans 300 hectares, with 93 hectares planted in the Margaux appellation on deep Garonne gravel soils. The wines are aged 15-17 months in barrels with 50% new oak. The park was designed by landscaper Eugène Bülher and is considered one of the most beautiful in the region. The estate also produces a second wine, La Sirène de Giscours, and offers guest rooms in the former stables.
