About the Winery

Château Pape Clément is one of Bordeaux's oldest properties, with seven centuries of history born from the passion of a pope. At the end of the 13th century, Bertrand de Goth received the property as a gift upon his appointment as Archbishop of Bordeaux. When elected Pope in 1305 as Clement V, he renamed the estate. Classified Grand Cru Classé in the 1953 Graves classification, the 63-hectare estate has belonged to Bernard Magrez since 1983. The red grape varieties are 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc, aged 16-18 months in French oak (70% new). White varieties include 74% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Sémillon, and 3% Sauvignon Gris. The estate holds multiple certifications including Terra Vitis, HVE Level 3, ISO 14001, and Bee Friendly, and uses eco-pasturing with 45 Landaise sheep in the vineyards.

One of Bordeaux's oldest estates, a Grand Cru Classé of Graves with 700 years of history dating back to Pope Clement V.
