Chateau Montana
About the Winery
Château Montana is a wine estate located between the sea and the mountains in the south of Roussillon, at the foot of the Pic du Canigou. The estate covers 45 hectares on the terroir of Les Aspres. Jean Jonquères d'Oriola, from a farming family established in the eastern Pyrenees for over 5 centuries, took over the estate which was created in the 19th century. The estate grows traditional Roussillon grape varieties including Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Since 2023, the estate has been in organic agriculture, certified HVE for many years. The estate produces AOC Côtes du Roussillon Villages Les Aspres, Côtes du Roussillon, and Côtes Catalanes wines, as well as natural sweet wines. The property also offers a reception room for events and gîte accommodations.
