Domaine Clos Bagatelle
About the Winery
Domaine Clos Bagatelle is a family estate founded in 1623 in the heart of the Saint-Chinian vineyard, passed down from mother to daughter for five generations. In the 1960s, Marie-Françoise and Henry Simon decided to replant the vines and modernize the cellar. Today, Christine and Luc Simon, brother and sister, manage the domaine with the same passion for the vine and quality. The estate comprises 4 terroirs: La Lauze (valley floor), Donnadieu (schistose garrigue), Assignan (gré soil at 250m altitude), and Saint-Jean de Minervois (white stone plateau for Muscat). The domaine produces Saint-Chinian Rouge, Blanc, and Rose, as well as Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois. The women of Clos Bagatelle have chosen to challenge conventions by producing wines aged up to 24 months in barrels and some bottles resting for up to 5 years.
“A family estate since 1623 in Saint-Chinian, passed down through five generations of women, producing diverse terroir-driven wines.”
