Scea domaine jean-louis Chave
About the Winery
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is one of the most iconic and revered wine estates in the Rhône Valley, with a history dating back to the 15th century when the Chave family first cultivated vines in Mauves. Today, Jean-Louis Chave, son of Gérard Chave, directs a 12-hectare domaine dedicated exclusively to the Hermitage appellation. The estate's reputation extends far beyond Europe, built on meticulous work in the vineyard (cultivated organically without certification) and in the cellar. Harvests are always conducted late to ensure perfect grape maturity. In the cellar, vinification and aging are conducted separately for each terroir before final blending. The domaine produces both red wines (primarily Syrah) and white wines (Marsanne and Roussanne), including the legendary Hermitage cuvées that are considered among the finest expressions of these grape varieties in the world.
“An iconic Rhône Valley estate with 15th-century roots, producing legendary Hermitage wines from 12 hectares.”
