About the Winery

Domaine Balland-Chapuis is a historic estate in Bué, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation in the Loire Valley. The family has been present in the Sancerrois since the 17th century. Today, the Saget family manages the domaine's 34 hectares spread across three appellations: Coteaux du Giennois, Sancerre, and Pouilly-Fumé. The estate's Sauvignon Blanc vines grow on the famous 'caillottes' (limestone pebbles) of Sancerre and the Kimmeridgian marls with small oysters of Pouilly-Fumé. The domaine also cultivates Pinot Noir for red and Rose wines. Isabelle Balland, a Burgundy-trained oenologist, makes the wines, while her sister Elise manages the office. Their fine plots include Le Grand Chemarin and Le Chêne Marchand in Sancerre.
