Château Angelus

About the Winery

Château Angélus is one of the most celebrated estates in Bordeaux, recognized as a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé 'A' - the highest classification in the appellation. Founded in 1782 by the de Boüard de Laforest family, the estate has been nurtured by eight generations. The 39-hectare vineyard sits on an ideal south-facing slope in a natural amphitheater of clay, limestone, gravel, and sandy soils. Under Hubert de Boüard's leadership since 1985, and now with his daughter Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the estate pioneered modern techniques while embracing organic viticulture since 2015. The wine is famous for its high proportion of Cabernet Franc (47%), which gives it distinctive spicy and menthol notes. Château Angélus gained international fame through appearances in three James Bond films, most notably Casino Royale (2006).
