About the Winery

The Chartreuse de Valbonne is a former Carthusian monastery officially founded in 1204, with a rich history spanning eight centuries. After being plundered during the Wars of Religion in 1585 and abandoned after the French Revolution, the Carthusian monks regained possession in 1836 before being forced into exile in 1901. In 1926, Pastor Philadelphe Delord bought the estate and founded ASVMT (Association de Secours aux Victimes des Maladies Tropicales). Today, ASVMT still owns the site, managing tourism, wine, and cultural activities. The Chartreuse is listed as a Historic Monument. Starting in 1977, the vineyards were replanted, and today over 16 hectares are cultivated. The domain produces Côtes du Rhône wines raised in barrels and bottles in the old vaulted cellars, and is certified Agriculture Biologique (AB).
