Domaine de Piaugier
About the Winery
Domaine de Piaugier is a family estate in Sablet, in the southern Rhône Valley, run by Jean-Marc and Sophie Autran along with their daughter Maude. The domain spans 30 hectares across Sablet (12.5 ha), Gigondas (3.5 ha), and Côtes-du-Rhône (14 ha). The history dates back nearly a century to Alphonse Vautour, who made wine in a cellar called 'Ténébi'. Fourth-generation Jean-Marc took over in 1985 and expanded the estate with his wife Sophie. The domain has been certified organic through ECOCERT. Their vineyards sit on diverse soils including clay with limestone and sand, clay with chalk, and sand and gravel. The name Sablet refers to 'sable' (sand) in French. The domain produces red, white, and Gigondas wines with an average vine age of 35 years.
“A fourth-generation family estate in Sablet since 1985, crafting organic wines from 30 hectares across Sablet, Gigondas, and Côtes-du-Rhône.”
