Xavier Courant
About the Winery
Domaine de l'Oubliée was created in 2009 by Xavier Courant, a former Parisian caviste who decided to get closer to wine. Located in Saint Patrice, one of the six villages of the AOC Bourgueil, the estate now encompasses 6.4 hectares of vineyards. Xavier runs 5 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 1 hectare of Chenin Blanc on sandy gravel soils. In the vineyard and cellar, his philosophy is based on natural, organic, and biodynamic principles. With a group of winegrowers from Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas, they develop their own biodynamic preparations. The wines are fruit-driven, extremely pure, and expressive Cabernet Francs that are enjoyable young. The wine names are inspired by French old movies.
