About the Winery

One of the oldest and most respected domaines in Alsace, Domaine Albert Seltz dates back to 1576, with fourteen generations of wine production. The family-owned winery is nestled in the picturesque village of Mittelbergheim, one of France's most celebrated wine communes. Albert Seltz took over from his father in 1980 at age 19 and has been the primary force behind the certification of Grand Cru Zotzenberg Sylvaner. The village of Mittelbergheim is the only one to cultivate Sylvaner Grand Cru on its terroir. The domain produces red, white, sparkling and sweet wines from grape varieties including Sylvaner, Pinot Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Noir. The estate has been certified organic since 2015 and practices sustainable agriculture with minimal intervention. Albert Seltz greatly reduced total area under vines to 11 hectares and yields, converting to sustainable agriculture using only local indigenous yeasts and aging sur lie.
