About the Winery

Olivier Bererd is a Beaujolais winemaker who, together with his brother Bruno, manages Domaine de la Madone in Le Perréon. Founded in the 1960s, the domain is known for producing exceptional Beaujolais-Villages wines from some of the highest-altitude vineyards in the region, situated between 1,600 and 2,000 feet above sea level. The estate's steep hillside vineyards feature pink decomposed granite soils similar to those of cru Fleurie, and many vines are over 100 years old. The Bererd brothers practice sustainable farming (now certified organic) and produce wines of remarkable depth and complexity that often rival Beaujolais crus. Their wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in tank to preserve freshness and aromatic purity.
