About the Winery

Guy Hersard is a wine producer in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, a Loire Valley appellation renowned for its Cabernet Franc wines. Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil is one of the Loire's most prestigious red wine appellations, producing wines exclusively from Cabernet Franc on a terroir of sandy gravels over limestone tuffeau. The wines are known for their deep color, rich fruit flavors of raspberry and blackcurrant, and distinctive mineral character from the tuffeau soils. They can be enjoyed young for their fresh fruit character or aged to develop complex aromas of spices, tobacco, and earth. The appellation is named after the nearby town of Bourgueil and the priory of Saint-Nicolas, which has a long history of winemaking.
