Michel Renoud
About the Winery
Michel Renoud is a wine producer in Gimeux, in the Charentes region of western France, near the historic town of Cognac. The estate is particularly known for producing Pineau des Charentes, the famous fortified apéritif wine made from a blend of grape must and Cognac eau-de-vie. Pineau des Charentes comes in white (from Ugni Blanc and Colombard), Rose (from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, or Cabernet Franc), and vieux (aged) versions. The Renoud estate produces both regular and très vieux (very old) Pineau des Charentes, which are aged for extended periods in oak barrels, developing complex flavors of dried fruit, nuts, and spices. The estate represents the traditional artisanal production of this unique fortified wine in its historic home region.
