About the Winery
Smaïn Alliche is a wine producer in Banyuls-sur-Mer, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. Banyuls-sur-Mer is famous for its Banyuls AOC fortified wines (vin doux naturel), made primarily from Grenache Noir grapes grown on steep terraced vineyards overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The region's schist soils and exceptional sun exposure create ideal conditions for producing these distinctive sweet wines. Banyuls is often called the 'French Port' due to its similarity to Portuguese fortified wines. Alliche produces wines that reflect the unique terroir of this coastal appellation, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean.
“Producer of Banyuls fortified wines in the sun-drenched terraced vineyards where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean.”
