Domaine Burckel-Jung
About the Winery
Domaine Burckel-Jung is a family wine estate in Gertwiller, Alsace, established since 1802. The estate spans 20 hectares of vineyards and is certified in biodynamic agriculture by Demeter. Today run by siblings Sarah and David Burckel-Jung, the eighth generation, the domaine cultivates all seven Alsatian grape varieties including Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Noir. Their maternal great-grandfather Emile Burckel was a well-known herbalist in the village, and the family continues this tradition using herbal infusions and plant decoctions in their biodynamic approach. The domaine is also known for its Crémant d'Alsace. The wine cellar features old wood barrels including century-old oak foudres with sculpted pieces from 1947.
“Family estate since 1802 in the heart of Alsace, certified biodynamic (Demeter), crafting wines from 20 hectares.”
