Earl château Balestard

33330 Saint-Émilion, France

About the Winery

Château Balestard La Tonnelle is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé estate dating back to the 15th century. Founded by François Balestard, canon of the village church, the estate takes its name from the historic tower (tonnelle) built in the 15th century that stands in the middle of their vines. The Capdemourlin family, who have been in Saint-Émilion since 1647, acquired the property in 1923. Today, the 12th and 13th generations run the estate. The 10.5-hectare vineyard is planted with 64% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon on clay-limestone soils. The estate features a bioclimatic architect building and a 400 m² rooftop terrace offering spectacular views over the medieval village of Saint-Émilion.

A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé since 1955, with a 15th-century tower at the heart of its 10.5-hectare vineyard.
