Domaine Gavoty
About the Winery
The Gavoty family has owned this 50-hectare contiguous vineyard since 1806. The estate built its reputation on producing white and red wines for aging. Domaine Gavoty is also a pioneer: Pierre Gavoty introduced Rolle (Vermentino) into Côtes de Provence Blanc. Pierre's daughter Roselyne, in charge of vinifications since 1985, took over the operation in 2001. The transition to organic farming was completed in 2020. The estate produces around 250,000 bottles annually: 70-80% Rose, 15% white, and 8-15% red. The property also encompasses 150 hectares of forest. The family's musical heritage is celebrated on their labels, which feature an ancient Greek lyre emblem. Bernard Gavoty (1906-1980) was a famous music critic for Le Figaro newspaper who wrote under the pseudonym 'Clarendon', which gives its name to the estate's top cuvées.
“A historic Provence estate with 50 contiguous hectares since 1806, now organic, famous for both wine and a musical heritage.”
