About the Winery
Château Grand-Maison is a 6.5-hectare property on the heights of Bourg, in the Côtes de Bourg appellation of Bordeaux. The estate was acquired in 2004 by Jean Mallet, a viticulturist, and Hervé Romat, an oenologist, who ran it together. They were pioneers in the region in banning insecticide use. In 2020, the estate was taken over by the Pouvaret family (Gwennaëlle and Guillaume Pouvaret). The vineyard is planted on the Bourg heights with Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. The property also offers a gîte for visitors. The wines are aged for 14 months in barrels (50% new) for the reds, bringing complexity and structure.
“A 6.5-hectare estate on the heights of Bourg, acquired by the Pouvaret family in 2020, pioneers in sustainable viticulture.”
