Gaec Clavelin et Fils
About the Winery
Five generations of the Clavelin family have been producing wine in Le Vernois in the Jura since 1845. Today, Romain, Patrick, and Christian manage 33 hectares in the Côtes du Jura and Château-Chalon appellations, spread across several communes including Voiteur, Bréry, Château-Chalon, Ménétru, and Mantry. The estate produces wines from Chardonnay and Savagnin for whites, and Trousseau, Pinot Noir, and Poulsard for reds. They are renowned for their Vin Jaune, which is bottled in the distinctive 62cl 'clavelin' bottle - a format created specifically for Vin Jaune by their ancestor at the historic La Vieille-Loye glassworks. The estate also produces Vin de Paille, Crémant du Jura, and Macvin du Jura.
