About the Winery

Château de Nouvelles is located near the Col d'Extrême in the Languedoc, on the Cathar castle route. The estate takes its name from Jacques Fournier de Novelli, who became Pope Benedict XII in the 14th century. The property has been owned by the Daurat-Fort family since 1834 and covers 67 hectares farmed organically. The estate produces four appellations: Fitou, Muscat de Rivesaltes, Rivesaltes, and Vin de France. Jean-Rémy Daurat-Fort now leads the estate, succeeding his father Jean, who was the former president of the Fitou appellation and passed away in 2021. The vineyards feature old vines with an average age of 90 years for Grenache and 45 years for Syrah.

A historic estate named after a 14th-century pope, owned by the Daurat-Fort family since 1834, with 67 organic hectares producing Fitou and Muscat de Rivesaltes.
