Guy Rochais
About the Winery
Guy Rochais is the heir to a long line of winemakers dating back to the 17th century. Installed since 1980, he organically and biodynamically farms 25 hectares of vines mainly on the left bank of the Loire, with several parcels in prestigious appellations including Coteaux-du-Layon, Chaume, and Quarts-de-Chaume. The estate, also known as Château de Plaisance, is a benchmark for biodynamic viticulture in the Loire Valley. Patricia and Guy Rochais have been pioneers in biodynamic farming in the region, producing exceptional Chenin Blanc wines that express the unique schist and limestone terroirs of the Layon valley. Their sweet wines from Quarts-de-Chaume are particularly renowned.
