Château la Tulipe
About the Winery
Château La Tulipe (also known as Château La Tulipe de la Garde) has been owned by the Villeaud family since 1992. The château takes its name from the millennium-old tulips present on the estate, which are yellow and originate from Turkey. The estate covers just over 5 hectares of vines. The property was purchased in 1994 by Ilja Gort, a famous Dutch rock star turned vigneron. Working with star winemaking consultant Michel Rolland, the estate has expanded to approximately 40 hectares. In 2021, the name was changed to Château Gort & Gort, though the original La Tulipe brand is no longer produced since 2020. The estate focuses on organic and vegan-friendly winemaking, using bentonite (clay) for clarification instead of animal products.
“Property of the Villeaud family since 1992, with tulips dating back millennia present on the estate.”
