About the Winery

Before setting out on his own in 2002, Daniel Laffite worked for 15 years for an important property. He bought part of it and set up his cellar. Today, he manages 18 hectares with his wife Cathy in the commune of Tautavel, in a natural corridor surrounded by garrigue, backing onto precipitous south-facing limestone escarpments. All 18 parcels face southeast, reflecting the estate's name 'soulane' meaning a hillside with south/southeast exposure. Grenache, Carignan and Syrah are ideally suited to the steep, arid, rocky terrain. No weed killers or pesticides are used, and vineyards are ploughed several times a year. The wines are bottled at the domaine, unfiltered.
